Foundation Provides Wireless Internet Connectivity to Telelearning 2001 Conference

Sacramento Calif.-based LearnSAT.net, a subsidiary of The Community College Foundation, announced today it will provide wireless broadband Internet connectivity to this year's Telelearning 2001 conference scheduled for October 6th-9th in Costa Mesa, Calif., at the Hilton Hotel Costa Mesa.

Established in March of this year, LearnSAT.net is an Internet Service Provider (ISP) specializing in high-speed, two-way satellite connectivity to educational institutions and mobile customers. "LearnSAT.net benefits educational institutions by providing a serious reach to a majority of locations in North America, even in remote areas, by fast provisioning of wireless, always-on Internet access at speeds up to 2Mbps," said LearnSAT.net vice president Christopher Edwards. For educational institutions that do not prefer broadband satellite connectivity, LearnSAT.net provides traditional dial-up access to the Internet. Additionally, LearnSAT.net helped invent the concept of taking the Internet on the road and has several patents pending.

At the Telelearning 2001 conference, LearnSAT.net will provide Internet connectivity to the more than 50 sessions and workshops devoted to distance learning. David Springett, president of The Community College Foundation stated, "Providing wireless connectivity to conferences is a unique approach to using this technology and provides an affordable alternative to traditional landline connections used by many conferences."

In addition to a full schedule of stops at educational institutions and events throughout California in the coming months, LearnSAT.net will be an exhibitor at TechEd Long Beach International Conference & Exposition February 25-27, 2002 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Southern California. TechEd Long Beach is the sixth annual Southern California educational technology conference produced by The Community College Foundation, and is the largest hands-on learning conference of its type
