FunMail and Logica Animate SMS

FunMail Integrates Its Unique Animated Technologies With Logica's World-Leading Telepath Short Message Centre Offering Enhanced Revenue Stream Opportunities for Mobile Network Operators

October 18

Logica, the global solutions firm, and FunMail Inc., the leading provider of animated messaging applications today announced a unique and innovative service on SMS, which extends FunMail's animated messaging service to SMS (Short Messaging Service).

The enhanced solution brings Internet and email based animated messaging to todays global SMS community, enabling 'texters' to joke, flirt or just say "Hi" through entertaining animations selected from the context of their SMS messages. SMS originated FunMails can either be sent to another mobile phone, wireless PDA device or to a desktop computer.

The solution integrates FunMail's animated messaging service with Logica's SMSC (Short Message Service Centre) to offer a fun application for mobile users with compelling content options for mobile users such as South Park, Garfield and original FunMail characters. The service can provide an immediate revenue stream for network operators, without impacting their existing network infrastructure, and offers a clear evolution path towards full multi-media enabled 3G services.

"FunMail is an excellent example of a wireless entertainment service that truly enhance the mobile user's lifestyle," said Gerry McKenna, Chief Executive Officer at Logica Mobile Networks. "We are very excited about our cooperation with FunMail and implementing the service on SMS marks a major milestone in the relationship between the two companies."

"Successfully sending a FunMail through Logica's SMSC is an important step for FunMail, because it enables us tap into an existing message stream of over 15 billion messages a month," added Adam Lavine, CEO of FunMail. "We are pleased to be working with Logica to bring a compelling, carrier-grade FunMail solution to market for new and existing Logica customers."
