I.D. Systems, Inc. Awarded $1 Million in Repeat Orders to Deploy Wireless Fleet Management Solutions for Major Auto Manufacturer

October 17, 2001

Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDSY), a leading provider of end-to-end wireless asset management solutions, today announced that its Wireless Asset Net(TM) industrial fleet management system will be deployed at two additional facilities of a major automotive manufacturer.

The two plants specified the Wireless Asset Net system for their fleets of forklifts and other material handling vehicles based on the results of a previous pilot installation at a third facility. The orders are valued at a combined total of approximately $1,000,000.

"These repeat orders reflect the significant cost and safety benefits that our Wireless Asset Net system is providing on a daily basis at the customer's pilot facility," said Ken Ehrman, I.D. Systems President and Chief Operating Officer. "The cost-saving benefits of our technology make it an especially compelling investment in the current economic climate. We look forward to continue leveraging the success of our system -- both with additional facilities of this global automotive industry leader and with new customers."

I.D. Systems' Wireless Asset Net system enhances safety, productivity, and maintenance for forklifts and other industrial equipment. The system improves safety by restricting vehicle access to trained operators (as required by OSHA), providing electronic safety inspection checklists, establishing accountability for abusive driving, and electronically recording accidents. The system improves productivity by detecting vehicle utilization, displaying real-time vehicle location, and providing text messaging for drivers. The system reduces maintenance expenses by automatically uploading vehicle data, reporting problems identified on checklists in real time, scheduling maintenance according to actual vehicle usage rather than on a calendar basis, managing battery rotation, and helping management determine the optimal economic time to replace equipment.
