Mobile Automation Inc., a leading provider of management solutions for desktop systems and mobile & wireless devices, Wednesday announced the industry's first native device management solution for the new Pocket PC 2002 product line.

Using the MA2000 mobile device management solution, corporate IT organizations that deploy and support the Pocket PC 2002 will now be able to manage these devices immediately, gaining the ability to swiftly distribute important software updates while keeping track of valuable corporate communications assets.

"The introduction of the Pocket PC 2002 will stimulate growth in the use of handheld devices by corporations worldwide, as applications software providers aggressively move to support the product," said Douglas Neal, president and chief executive officer of Mobile Automation.

"Mobile Automation is prepared to be in a leadership position as the market for the Pocket PC 2002 expands and we are pleased to be the first device management software firm to provide IT managers with the tools that will facilitate large scale, rapid deployment and ongoing management of these devices."

The MA2000 solution offers unique capabilities, utilizing a flexible communications protocol that allows for seamless management of a company's Pocket PC and similar devices, regardless of the type of connection, including docked, dial-up, direct, or wireless methods of communicating.

In addition, the robust inventory capabilities of MA2000 allow companies to track which versions of Pocket PC devices and Pocket applications are installed, making device lifecycle management easier and less costly.

"MA2000 is the best technology for managing Pocket PC 2002 devices, because of its unique micro agent technology designed to have the smallest possible memory footprint, while allowing for slow and intermittent connectivity," added Jack Horner, vice president of engineering for Mobile Automation. "We were able to achieve our design goals without sacrificing management functionality."
