Motorola Phones Become Portable Game Devices With Cybiko Games

October 16, 2001

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and Cybiko, a leading hardware and software developer for the youth market, today announced the availability of Cybiko games for Java™ technology-enabled handsets from Motorola.

Earlier this year, Motorola introduced the first three Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME™) technology-enabled mobile phones in North America, the Motorola i85s, i50sx and i55sr handsets. J2ME technology allows users to customize their phones by downloading a full range of applications, including games and productivity tools, to meet the users' individual needs.

"By offering application-upgradeable handsets, we are allowing mobile phones to serve multiple purposes -- including the ability to entertain," said Peter Aloumanis, vice president of Motorola and director of U.S. Market Operations for the company's iDEN® Subscriber Group. "Cybiko's games will appeal to game enthusiasts as well as business users, who can access their favorite games at any time, whether they are stuck in traffic in the back of a taxi or waiting for an appointment."

"Cybiko's enhanced games demonstrate the power and performance of Motorola's multi-service handsets," said Donald Wisniewski, president and principle partner, Cybiko, Inc. "Now user can have a robust entertainment experience on the same device they use for their everyday communications."

Cybiko's games include Blazing Boards, a skateboarding action game; Dice Extreme, a game of chance and logic; Funny Balls, a game of logic and observation; and Phat Case, a stock portfolio game. These games are available today for downloading at www.nextel.com/idenupdate . Prices range from $5 to $8 each.
