Siemens IC Mobile Standardizes on Interlink Networks RADIUS Server

Authentication Software to be Shipped in Next Generation Siemens' Mobile RADIUS Solution

October 23, 2001

Interlink Networks, a developer of leading network access management software including the Merit RADIUS Server, announced today the signing of an OEM license agreement with Siemens Information and Communications Mobile Group (IC Mobile) based in Germany, a leading provider of mobile networks, solutions, and devices for mobile business.

Under the agreement, Interlink Networks will supply version 5.1 of its flagship RADIUS Server to be incorporated into the next generation Siemens Mobile RADIUS product. The companies will also perform joint technology activities in future network access management implementations such as Mobile IP, GPRS, UMTS, and WLAN.

The Siemens Mobile RADIUS solution enables specialized services for mobile service providers using GSM/GPRS/UMTS packet-switched wireless data networks by using common and advanced AAA (authentication, authorization, and accounting) technology. This technology allows mobile subscribers to use personalized Internet services, to receive personalized content via WAP, to access e-mail and instant messaging services, and to setup communities for playing on-line games, etc. The Mobile RADIUS Server authenticates these users, authorizes the IP services they have access to, and accounts for their on-line activity for billing purposes. In addition, Mobile RADIUS allows users to roam between different service providers in different countries, supports the setup of VPNs to different application service domains, and provides mobile user session information to a variety of application platforms.

"We chose to work with Interlink Networks for three reasons: they offer the most advanced solution in the market; they have the largest installed base of authentication servers in the market; and they offer the extensibility that Siemens needs to customize the solutions to our customer's requirements," stated Dr. Mechthild Behrens, VP, Customer Access & Application Platforms, Siemens IC Mobile.

"Siemens has a strong world-wide footprint in the Mobile IP market," said Mike Klein, President & CEO of Interlink Networks. "With this agreement, we have expanded our relationship to serve as a key supplier within the Siemens Information and Communications Business, and serve the Mobile IP market in general."
