SMSC Introduces Windows CE Driver for LAN91C111 Non-PCI 10/100 Mbps Single Chip Ethernet MAC+PHY Controller

Standard Microsystems Corporation (Nasdaq: SMSC) announced today the availability of a Windows CE v 3.0 driver for its LAN91C111 Non-PCI 10/100 Mbps Single Chip Ethernet MAC+PHY Controller.

The CE driver, written for x86 architecture, is proprietary with object code available from the SMSC web site and source code available to customers through SMSC's SRC 9000-CE royalty free Software License Agreement.

"Developing the Windows CE driver is in keeping with SMSC's ongoing efforts to provide complete solutions for our LAN devices. SMSC supplies all the necessary hardware and software tools for customers to easily implement a LAN91C111 controller for their embedded networking applications," stated Fred Weber, Director of Marketing for Embedded Products.

The LAN91C111 is a non-PCI Fast Ethernet controller for embedded systems that provides a configurable, generic bus interface compatible with popular embedded processor host interfaces, including ARM, Hitachi SH, Power PC, ColdFire, and MIPS. Since the Bus Interface Unit is very flexible, the LAN91C111 is ideal for many different environments and access modes, including 32-bit or 16-bit mode, synchronous or asynchronous mode, and burst or non-burst mode. System designers can take advantage of the flexible interface to configure the chip to match their application requirements.

The Windows CE driver object code can be downloaded from SMSC's web site at http://www.smsc.com/main/tools/lan9000/91c111ce.zip
