By Leveraging Thin Client/Thin Forms Ultimus Brings Real Business Applications To The Growing Mobile Workforce

Ultimus, the leading Web-based workflow automation software provider, today introduced Ultimus Wireless Workflow. An added capability to Version 5.0 of the Ultimus Workflow Suite, Ultimus Wireless Workflow leverages Thin Client/Thin Forms to deliver workflow beyond the physical enterprise, enabling the mobile workforce to participate in an organization's key business processes via wireless devices. The wireless capability builds upon the company's award-winning, feature-rich Ultimus Workflow Suite, which offers a complete, Internet-enabled solution for business process automation at the industry's lowest total cost of ownership.

"As wireless devices become ubiquitous in today's fast-paced world, and the mobile workforce continues to mature, it is essential that companies have access to technology that enables them to benefit from the smooth operation of all their key business processes," said Rashid Khan, co-founder and CEO of Ultimus. "Ultimus Wireless Workflow leverages Thin Client/Thin Form technology to extend the power of workflow beyond the physical enterprise to include the wireless devices used by today's mobile professionals. This capability ensures that as the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, Ultimus customers are still able to maintain the integrity of their business processes and operate in Internet time."

"Workflow solutions are designed to help companies streamline their business processes to ensure they meet the increased demands placed on them by their customers, suppliers and partners--all of which are critical to the organization's success," said Nancy Tubb, senior analyst at the Delphi Group. "As corporations grow beyond their physical enterprise and depend more on the use of mobile devices, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain the same level of workflow automation outside company walls. Wireless workflow solutions enable companies to reap the benefits of a mobile workforce without damaging the organization's workflow infrastructure by incorporating these employees into their key business processes via their wireless devices."

Announced earlier this year, the Ultimus Workflow Suite Version 5.0 extends workflow automation beyond the enterprise to deliver real-time business process interoperability between companies and third parties. Key to Version 5.0 is its improved support of pure HTML-powered, lightweight Thin Client/Thin Forms that are ideal for cross platform applications, and the basis of the Ultimus Wireless Workflow. While standard Thick Clients require Internet Explorer and can only run on the Windows Desktop, Thin Clients/Thin Forms can operate on any HTML browser as well as any hardware or operating system. As a result of this capability, Ultimus Wireless Workflow enables companies with remote users, partners, suppliers and customers to participate in the workflow process from any PDA, laptop or handheld that is wireless enabled and has an HTML browser, thus extending the benefits of workflow automation.

Ultimus Workflow Suite

The Ultimus Workflow Suite is a highly flexible, Internet-enabled solution for general-purpose business process automation. A fifth-generation solution, the product offers complete, enterprise-level functionality to support a company's total business processes from the most common to the mission-critical--at the lowest cost of ownership. Business administrators can build automated workflow processes without any programming, macros or scripting. Ultimus Workflow Suite is expressly designed to allow easy user adoption so that every individual in an organization is involved in a company's workflow processes. The first 100% browser-based workflow solution, Ultimus can be accessed from any Internet browser at any location.
