ArcSoft Puts Imaging in the Palm of Your Hand

ArcSoft PhotoBase for Palm OS Expands Company's Portfolio of Mobile Applications

November 13, 2001

ArcSoft, Inc., a leading digital imaging technology services and software provider to Fortune 500 companies, today announced that it has further expanded its family of wireless applications with ArcSoft PhotoBase(TM) for Palm OS(R). With PhotoBase for Palm OS, users can manage and manipulate digital images on a personal digital assistant (PDA) or desktop and hot sync images to their PDA. Once an image has been synced to a PDA, users can share photos via infrared beaming between devices, create slide shows and email photos wirelessly. Architected on Palm OS, PhotoBase is compatible with most standard OS devices, including models of the Sony Clie(TM) and Handspring's Visor(TM), and is the second in a suite of ArcSoft's mobile edition software applications. The new application will be available to consumers for the Christmas season.

"We are at the tip of the iceberg of what mobile devices can deliver; the PDA has become a personal, portable connection to all types of information," said Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies. "With applications such as ArcSoft PhotoBase, PDAs are poised to become portable digital entertainment devices and, over time, become the mobile link to all things digital."

"Pictures have become as important and pervasive to communicating as email and the cellular phone," said Chris Bethell, director of marketing at ArcSoft. "ArcSoft PhotoBase for Palm OS is another example of how ArcSoft is leading the marketplace to build applications that enable widespread communication via the sharing of visual data."

ArcSoft PhotoBase for Palm OS is compatible with the desktop version of PhotoBase, but does not require a desktop component. The program includes basic editing capabilities, including zooming and color correcting, as well as the ability to view images in a slide show format. Users can select the draw feature to title or draw directly on their images using a stylus.

ArcSoft PhotoBase for Palm OS will retail for $29.99 and will be available at www.arcsoft.com.
