Enfora Announces the Release of Its New OEM Wireless Modem

November 28, 2001

Enfora, Inc. announced the availability of the Enfora Enabler(TM) Series Wireless IP OEM modules, for integration into fixed, portable, and handheld devices requiring wireless access.

The Enfora Enabler-C(TM) module provides connectivity to CDPD wireless data networks, and will begin shipping in Q401. The Enfora Enabler-G(TM) module provides connectivity to GPRS data networks, and becomes available in Q102.

The Enabler module is designed around a very compact form factor, nearly 42% smaller than its existing Spider OEM solution. The Enabler-C(TM) module boasts better radio performance, while decreasing the power consumption for improved battery life in mobile applications.

"Enfora had tremendous success with its previous OEM wireless modem, the Spider-O(TM), and plans to build on that success with the new Enabler modules," said Mark Weinzierl, Enfora president. "The Enabler modules allow us to offer our customers a customizable solution in a smaller more efficient form factor."

The Enabler's unique modular design allows for fast and easy integration for a variety of wireless data markets. Enfora realized with the diversity of wireless technologies, and the range of services available in each area, a modular approach provided maximum end-user flexibility and adaptability.

The unique design of the Enabler modules also provides a quick and cost effective upgrade path from existing CDPD capabilities to GPRS capabilities as carriers begin offering service. This upgrade path provides a tremendous advantage, as it allows customers to build applications and offer products with proven solutions on today's wireless data networks, while planning for migration to the next generation of wireless technology.
