Enterprise Applications Go Mobile with the New Nokia 9290 Communicator

Industry Leaders Come Together to Offer Businesses a Fully Integrated Mobile Solution

November 13, 2001

Nokia (NYSE:NOK), Cap Gemini Ernst & Young U.S. LLC, and EYT, Inc. (formerly Ernst & Young Technologies), today announced they have teamed to provide a mobile business solution for enterprise applications delivery. Together, they will help enable mobile workforces in North America to complete sales transactions, field service requests, fulfill customer orders and manage inventory from remote locations while on the go.

Today's announcement combines Nokia's expertise in wireless devices, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's systems integration experience and EYT's competencies in application fulfillment and support, providing customers a 'one stop shopping' experience for their mobile enterprise integration. The Nokia 9290 Communicator, which enables mobile office capabilities, corporate intranet access and wireless communications, can be integrated into numerous enterprise systems to provide mobile workforces with secure and convenient access to critical data.

EYT, as a leading application service provider (ASP) and solutions integrator, will work with Nokia and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young to pre-configure and deliver the Nokia 9290 Communicator to customer locations. EYT's extensive configuration and solution support capabilities will deliver a fully configured product to the user, allowing the customer to begin using the custom-configured and integrated product almost immediately.

"The Nokia 9290 Communicator is already a powerful business tool, with support for Java, mobile office functionality, Internet access and complete organizer capability. By working with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, we are able to tap even deeper into the power of the Nokia 9290 Communicator and help enterprises to take their applications mobile," said Paul Chellgren, vice president of business development for Nokia. "Mobility will become an increasingly important competitive advantage for enterprises going forward, and this teaming of companies will allow corporations to move data out of servers and into the hands of their people."

Announced earlier this year, the Symbian OS-based Nokia 9290 Communicator is expected to ship during the first half of 2002. Mobile office functions include the ability to create spreadsheets and word processing documents, as well as open and edit Word and Excel files. Content written for WAP and HTML browsers can be accessed using the built-in browser and support for SyncML enables easy synchronization of contact, calendar and 'to-do' information.

"The Nokia 9290 Communicator represents the next generation of mobile technology, combining important business capabilities into a single device," said John Distefano, vice president, leader for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's Mobile Commerce Center of Excellence. "Our experience in mobile commerce and systems integration allows us to rapidly deploy mobile solutions which drive operational efficiencies and new revenue opportunities for our clients."

"The Nokia 9290 Communicator takes wireless communications to the next level for the enterprise, giving users EYT's expert delivery and support services, combined with the proven abilities of Nokia mobile devices and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's mobile commerce integration services," according to EYT president and CEO, Jim Hunt.
