Intermec Industrial Printers Go Wireless

Flexible Wireless Connections Enable Bar Code Label Printing From Almost Any Location

November 12, 2001

Intermec Technologies Corp. today announced the EasyCoder(R) Printer Mounting Kit for the Intermec MobileLAN(TM) 2102 access module.

The kit includes mounting brackets, cable and installation instructions, along with a detailed description of how the 2102 access point is configured to work with EasyCoder printers. This combination of products allows customers to print barcode labels across a wireless LAN.

The Intermec wireless Printer Mounting Kit and MobileLAN 2102 fits any EasyCoder 3240, 3400, 3440, 3600, 4420, 4440, F2, F4, 501 XP, or 601XP equipped with an EasyLAN(TM) 10i or 100i internal Ethernet card.

"Wired connectivity for printers becomes costly when you have to install network cabling in your production facility," said Mike Wills, vice president of Intermec's printer/media business units. "Intermec's wireless printing system provides the flexibility to install printers precisely where they're needed in production environments without the limitations that wires present."

While Intermec customers already have been using wireless connectivity for their printers, this is the first time a complete kit has been available to conveniently connect and mount a MobileLAN 2102 access point to a thermal printer.

"EasyCoder printers have already been working successfully in wireless LAN environments," said Lars Enoksson, Intermec global product manager. "This kit makes installation simpler."
