Customers with Enterprise J2EE(TM) technology; Partnership Offers Maximum Scalability and Productivity for `End 2 Anywhere' Integration with Wireless Applications

IONA(R), the leading e-Business Platform provider for Web Services Integration (NASDAQ: IONA), today announced that Aligo, Inc., the leading provider of Java(TM)- based application server software, will give developers the ability to build mobile applications using the Aligo M-1 Mobile Application Server and the IONA Orbix E2A(TM) Application Server Platform.

Aligo's M-1 Server 2.0 transforms an enterprise's existing software infrastructure into a fully wireless-enabled platform with enhanced capabilities. The M-1 Server 2.0 manages every aspect of delivery, from session management, content presentation, and data flow to messaging and security. As a member of IONA's independent software vendor (ISV) program, Aligo can use the Orbix E2A Application Server Platform to provide customers with the benefits of J2EE(TM) technology including increased scalability and productivity at a low cost-of-ownership. As part of this agreement, Aligo and IONA will also jointly market the IONA-enhanced Aligo solution.

"We constantly search for technology partners that will provide our customers with a technical and business edge," said David Shim, co-founder and CEO of Aligo. "IONA's strong ISV program has enabled us to quickly and easily take advantage of emerging J2EE technology and pass that capability on to our customers, without the usual barriers to adoption."

"The unmatched scalability of our Orbix E2A Application Server Platform makes it particularly well-suited to wireless applications that have the potential to reach millions of users," said John Petrie, vice president of application server sales at IONA. "By working with technology leaders such as Aligo, we are able to extend the value of the IONA Orbix E2A platform to help our customers build solutions that satisfy their business needs today and beyond."

The Orbix E2A Application Server Platform is the most deployed, heterogeneous application server in the industry. It combines the scalability of CORBA and the productivity of J2EE, with Web services standards and integration adapters for the most widely used platforms and applications. The Orbix E2A Application Server Platform provides the management services required for reliable, scalable, and secure applications. The Orbix E2A Application Server Platform is available in three editions: J2EE Technology, Standard, and Enterprise.

IONA's ISV program offers organizations of all sizes the opportunity to implement J2EE technology at no risk and with minimum financial commitment. The program is structured in three tiers, based on the profile of the ISV: Start-up companies with less than $10 million annual revenues; High-growth companies with less than $100 million in annual revenues; and Established organizations with greater than $100 million in annual revenues. ISV's may obtain developer subscriptions, unlimited embedded deployment licenses, technical support and upgrades through December 31, 2002 for a program fee starting at $2,500. Beginning in 2003, companies participating in the program will then transition to a modest royalty payment.
