Motorola and TLX, Inc. to Develop Crew Logistics Application on Motorola's Accompli(TM) 009 Personal Communicator

November 13, 2001

Motorola and TLX, Inc. announced today it will develop an airline crew logistics application for Motorola's Accompli(TM) 009 personal communicator, an advanced programmable "virtual office" mobile device.

TLX will utilize Motorola's new Accompli(TM) 009 to expand accessibility to its Layover Management System (LMS). The software application to be developed would enable airline crew members to instantly access information such as their individual flight schedules including times and airports; layover hotel(s) for their trips including address and phone number, and a crew room canceling function, if they decide to stay with family or friends at a layover destination. E-ticketing confirmation for any off- line airline reservations is also being considered for the next application release.

The Accompli 009 is the first wireless communications device to incorporate both tri-band GSM and GPRS protocols, phone functionality, Internet access, e-mail and short message service (SMS) with a QWERTY keyboard and 256-color screen. The Accompli 009 offers business users the ability to access e-mail wirelessly from anywhere in the world where GSM coverage is available.

"The Accompli(TM) 009 personal communicator is perfect for our LMS product since airline crew members will gain access without jeopardizing the integrity and security of our system," said TLX President and CEO John Holdswolth.

"Motorola is excited about the possibilities an application like TLX's Layover Management System opens up for the travel industry," said Miguel Pellon, vice president and general manager, Wireless Messaging Division. "Allowing pilots to remotely access their schedule information, make hotel room changes and manage their time more effectively is an important milestone for professionals who are constantly on-the-move. Plus, the additional features of the Accompli 009, such as its wireless email capabilities and "global" cellular phone, make it the perfect product for anyone in the travel industry."

Communication with Convenience

A QWERTY keyboard, 256-color screen and automatically backlit display offer premiere viewing and navigating under any conditions. With an infrared data port, users can send and receive important documents by fax, print to compatible printers or beam business cards to compatible devices. The Accompli 009's phone functionality is easily employed with a hands-free headset or detachable speakerphone.

Have It Your Way

With Motorola's Wisdom(TM) OS, users can customize their Accompli 009 to suit their personal needs. With downloadable applications and software packages, the Accompli 009 will perform a variety of functions relevant to the individual user. TrueSync(R) Plus software allows users to sync their Accompli 009 contacts, schedules and tasks with most popular PIMs, PDAs and other wireless devices. IrDA also allows users to beam data to another personal communicator, laptop, printer or fax.

The Accompli 009 is expected to be available in North America in the fourth quarter of 2001, in conjunction with the debut of fully operational GSM/GPRS networks. The Accompli 009 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $600.
