Pretec CompactGPRS Enables Broadband Wireless Voice and Data for PDA

Pretec Electronics Corp. will be showing its new CompactGPRS(TM) card today (booth No. L3617-108TW) at North Hall of LVCC, the first such device in the world in CompactFlash form factor. The high speed wireless data and voice capability demonstration of CompactGPRS(TM) card working with Microsoft Window CE powered Pocket PC will be held in the private Pretec Suite by invitation only.

With dual-band capability of 900/1900MHz, CompactGPRS(TM) card can be used across the U.S, Europe and Asia (another version of dual-band 900/1800MHz is also available). The integration of a PDA and a mobile phone with high-speed wireless Internet access makes Pretec CompactGPRS(TM) card an ideal companion for any Pocket PC users. With an optional CF adapter from Pretec, CompactGPRS(TM) card becomes a PC card, working with virtually all of today's Notebook computers equipped with a PCMCIA slot.

Pretec has demonstrated the world's first CompactLAN(TM) and CompactModem(TM) card in 1997, CompactSerial(TM) and CompactParallel(TM) in 1998, CompactSCAN(TM) (Bar-code scanner), CompactSSFDC(TM) (Smart Media to CF adapter) in 1999, CompactGPS(TM) in 2000, CompactBT(TM) (Bluetooth), CompactCamera(TM), CompactTrio(TM) (MMC/SD/MS to CF adapter) and CompactGPRS(TM) in 2001, providing the most comprehensive CF-interfaced peripherals in the world.
