Proxim, Inc. (Nasdaq:PROX), the leader in wireless broadband networking, was today named "Best of COMDEX" in the wireless networking system category, for Proxim's Harmony 802.11a product family.
Harmony 802.11a is a family of IEEE 802.11a-compliant products for the enterprise, offering unmatched speed for wireless connectivity. Harmony 802.11a products enable connection speeds up to 100 Mbps in Proxim's 2X mode, and provide the throughput, scalability and reliability enterprises need. Harmony 802.11a products leverage Proxim's innovative Harmony architecture, which supports all the leading wireless standards and offers easy migration from 802.11b.
The Best of COMDEX Awards recognize the most innovative and influential products and technologies introduced at COMDEX Fall. A panel of award-winning editors from CIO, Computerworld, InfoWorld, Network World and PC World judged the nominees prior to and during the event, and named the winner in a ceremony held Wednesday, Nov. 14.

With Harmony 802.11a, the speed, capacity, and reliability of enterprise wireless LANs is dramatically improved. 802.11a offers significantly more channels than 802.11b, allowing much greater scalability for large deployments. Operating in the license-free 5 GHz band, 802.11a also provides network connectivity with no interference from 2.4 GHz devices such as cordless phones, microwave ovens, Bluetooth devices, and other wireless LANs. The Harmony 802.11a family is fully IEEE 802.11a-compliant, and offers 54 Mbps data rate in 802.11a mode. Proxim's 2X mode adds data rates up to 100 Mbps, incorporating over 15 years of Proxim wireless LAN expertise.
