QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions and Eutelsat to Offer EutelTRACS System to Europe's Fleets

QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry and Eutelsat, one of Europe's leading satellite providers, today announced a five-year agreement to bring high-value fleet management solutions to the European marketplace. QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of QUALCOMM and formerly named eQ-COM, will join with Eutalsat to bring the EutelTRACS(R) mobile communications system to Europe's fleet managers, helping them increase operating efficiencies, enhance customer service and improve productivity. EutelTRACS is the European version of QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions' mobile communications solution, OmniTRACS(R).

QUALCOMM's OmniTRACS system is a satellite-based mobile communications and tracking system that provides real-time messaging and position reporting between fleets and their operations centers. Messages are sent via satellite through Eutelsat's Network Management Center to dispatch centers throughout Europe. The OmniTRACS system is an interactive, fully integrated information management system that includes two-way mobile communications, satellite tracking and fleet management software. To date, QUALCOMM has shipped over 400,000 OmniTRACS system units worldwide.

"We are excited about the opportunity to directly offer the European market our high-value wireless data solutions that have been successful worldwide for more than a decade," said Simon Harris, managing director of QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions Europe. "By partnering with Eutelsat, who has offered EutelTRACS in Europe for 10 years, QUALCOMM has joined with a technology expert that can work with us to bring the most technically superior, customer-oriented mobile communications solutions to Europe."

"Through the EutelTRACS system that we have been running for 10 years, Eutelsat has earned customer satisfaction through quality service and high levels of reliability within a region covering the entire European continent and stretching as far as Kazakhstan in central Asia and into North Africa," said Arduino Patacchini, multimedia director at Eutelsat. "This new agreement with QUALCOMM, a world leader in wireless data technology, brings new impetus and expertise to the continued expansion and diversification of satellite-based communications and tracking."
