Skyscape and Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins Announce Partnership To Provide Leading Medical Reference Information For Popular Handheld Devices

LWW's Key Medical Titles Available on Skyscape's Industry Leading ART(TM) Platform for PALM OS and Windows CE/Pocket PC Platforms

Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (www.lww.com) a leading provider of professional health care information, and Skyscape (www.skyscape.com), a leader in hand-held software solutions for the medical community, have announced a partnership to create and market handheld versions of LWW's best-selling medical reference texts on a full range of handheld platforms.

"This relationship includes a variety of LWW's finest and most trusted reference content including the 30th edition of the Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics, the popular 5-Minute Consult series, and specialty titles in Infectious Diseases, Toxicology, Cardiology, Surgery and Anesthesiology," said RJ Mathew, Vice-President, Marketing and Business Development at Skyscape. "We are excited that this high quality content will soon be available on the Skyscape ART(TM) platform, which has gained broad acceptance among the medical community based on its intuitive look and feel, ease-of-use and ability to cross-link between titles."

Skyscape currently licenses and distributes The 5-Minute Pediatric Consult, The 5-Minute Emergency Consult and The 5-Minute Dental Consult. This new agreement takes the relationship between the two companies to the next level.

The first handheld title to be released through this agreement is the 30th Edition of The Washington University Manual of Medical Therapeutics. Edited by a team of chief residents at Washington University's Department of Internal Medicine, the Washington University Manual is the worldwide standard and authoritative reference for the current management of common medical disorders.

The ability to cross-link the Washington University Manual with other titles being developed through this partnership will provide the health professional with a powerful clinical tool.

"We now have an integrated partnership that leverages the strengths of both companies," said James Ryan, Vice President and Publisher. "With LWW's editorial and marketing expertise and Skyscape's technology and distribution infrastructure, we can create and bring to market products that meet health professionals' growing demand for clinical information on handheld devices. This agreement is an important step in LWW's overall strategy to provide information-solutions to the medical community."

The titles under this relationship will be available starting in the fourth quarter of 2001. The products will be co-marketed and distributed by both LWW and Skyscape, through a variety of websites, including LWW.com and skyscape.com, and physical distribution channels.
