Airtime, with Mobile Product Family, Service and Support Provides Comprehensive Solution

Symbol Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:SBL), a global leader in mobile data management systems and services, today announced a new wireless wide area network (WWAN) service at the Frontline Solutions Expo 2001 tradeshow in Chicago. Designed to enable customers to quickly and easily implement comprehensive wide area mobile computing solutions, SymbolAir(SM) delivers the airtime, services and support needed to bring wide area connectivity with its extensive line of mobile computing devices.

The SymbolAir solution couples Symbol's line of wide area network mobile computing devices with access to airtime on networks, such as CDPD, DataTAC and Mobitex, to provide convenient connectivity to corporate networks from remote locations. It is ideal for vertical markets where activity occurs at remote locations including sales and service automation, postal delivery, government and healthcare.

SymbolAir provides airtime for data communications, activation and deactivation of devices, provisioning and billing for network usages, 24x7 full-tier customer support, maintenance and monitoring for networks and usage, redundant connectivity to carriers, redundant hardware and reporting of QOS statistics. Airtime purchased from SymbolAir can be used with any of Symbol's line of WWAN mobile computing devices including the SPT1700, PPT 2700, PPT 2800, PDT 7500 and PDT 8100 lines.
