Bluesocket Enters Giant Japanese Wireless LAN Market Through Partnership with Toyo Corporation

December 5, 2001

New enterprise wireless security & management solution available in Japan

Toyo Corporation (www.toyo.co.jp) has signed an exclusive sales distribution agreement with Bluesocket Inc. (www.bluesocket.com), a fast-growing developer of wireless local area network (WLAN) solutions headquartered in the United States. Effective immediately, Toyo has commenced selling Bluesocket's WG-1000 Wireless Gateway for WLANs into the Japanese market. Toyo will market the WG-1000 through partnership with Japanese WLAN system integrators, as well through sales and support direct to enterprise users --making use of its own consulting and technical support services.

"Toyo's mission is to provide effective solutions by offering network management and measurement systems to best suit individual customers," said Kohzo Yumoto, president of Toyo Corporation. "It is a great pleasure to be able to represent Bluesocket in Japan. We believe the synergy between the Bluesocket solution and Toyo's technical support capabilities will contribute significantly to the expansion of the Japanese WLAN market."

"While the Wireless LAN market has grown dramatically in Japan, many companies remain hesitant to introduce WLANs into their facilities because of concerns over security, access management issues and Class of Service (CoS) problems," said Mitsuru Onodera, sales manager of Toyo Corporation. "We believe that Bluesocket's WG-1000 will be attractive to current and future WLAN users, as it provides a perfect and reliable solution toward these WLAN-related problems.

"Japan is the world's second largest market for WLANs," said Eric Janszen, CEO of Bluesocket, Inc.. "Toyo's leadership in mobile communications networking technology makes Toyo the ideal partner for Bluesocket in this critically important area of the world and such a burgeoning market. I am delighted to have Toyo represent Bluesocket products in Japan."

"We're very pleased to be working with Toyo Corporation," said Joost DeJong, VP of Sales, Bluesocket, Inc.. "For almost fifty years, Toyo has earned a reputation for integrity and service to its customers and has established a proven history of successfully introducing new communications products into the Japanese market. We look forward to working closely with Toyo Corporation to fulfill the Secure Mobility(TM) needs of Japanese enterprises."

Japan: Second Largest Market for WLANs Worldwide

As Japan is home to major multinational companies employing a highly mobile professional population, the Japanese market for Wireless LANs is expected to grow rapidly after 2001 according to a report from Gartner Research. Gartner projects that the compound annual growth rate of the WLAN market in Japan will increase 89% between 1999 and 2004. According to Yuko Adachi, analyst, Gartner, Inc. "Although low-end WLAN products that are not particularly different from home-use WLAN solutions dominate the market in Japan today, it is expected that the demand for higher WLAN solutions with security and management capabilities will burst soon. Recently, the recognition of the importance of security and QoS for solid and effective networking among enterprise users has become widespread. As more medium-sized enterprises will develop LAN solutions in the coming few years, the demand for higher capabilities will be strong."
