Flying Wireless, Inc. Signs BlackBerry ISV Alliance Agreement with Research In Motion

December 13, 2001

Flying Wireless, Inc., a leader in voice and mobile solutions, today announced it has signed an ISV alliance agreement with Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM; TSE:RIM) to further develop the interoperability between Flying Wireless' patent-pending ActiveRunner(TM) Personal Assistant and RIM's BlackBerry(TM) wireless email solution. The ActiveRunner Personal Assistant is available today at http://www.activerunner.com

Under the BlackBerry ISV (Independent Software Vendor) Alliance Program, Flying Wireless, Inc. will expand interoperability between ActiveRunner and BlackBerry to provide mobile professionals with a wireless "personal assistant" that allows them to easily access their PC information from the convenience of their BlackBerry handheld. For example, users will gain the ability to access their locally-stored email messages, open and view email attachments directly from their handheld, send SMS (short message service) text messages to anyone in the U.S., remotely access, view and forward any file stored on their PC or networked drives, and create personal "reminders" for themselves or others.

"The ability to access information on your PC from a BlackBerry Wireless Handheld in a simple, affordable way, is a very compelling solution for the mobile business user," said Daniel Hoffman, President and CEO, Flying Wireless, Inc. "We look forward to cultivating this relationship with RIM, to advancing the capabilities of the ActiveRunner Personal Assistant, and to providing mobile professionals with what they want -- a great way to extend the reach of their PC, save time, and to give themselves a little extra help, all using their BlackBerry handheld."
