Interlink Networks Joins Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance

Leading Network Access Control Vendor Developing Security Solutions for 802.11 based WLANs

December 7, 2001

Interlink Networks, a leading network access management software provider, announced today that it has joined the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA).

Interlink Networks provides network access control and management solutions that support and increase the security of 802.11 wireless LAN implementations.

WECA's mission is to certify interoperability of Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b wireless) products and to promote Wi-Fi as the global wireless LAN standard across all market segments. Interlink Networks provides a proven solution for enhancing the security in Wi-Fi wireless LAN applications. The Interlink Networks RAD-E Enterprise Access Server centralizes the control and monitoring of user access to wireless networks. RAD-E is a RADIUS server, a time-proven Authentication, Authorization & Accounting (AAA) technology used by service providers and enterprises worldwide to authenticate remote user access to their networks. Interlink Networks has been at the forefront in applying this proven AAA approach to address the specific security concerns found in wireless LAN network access.

"We are pleased that Interlink Networks has joined WECA," said David Cohen, WECA Chairman. "We look forward to their active participation in the numerous initiatives we have underway. We see this as an opportunity for leading companies to work together to resolve issues and allow the industry to grow at an even faster pace. Our expectation is that Interlink Networks will make a significant contribution to key WECA initiatives," continued Cohen.

"We joined WECA because it is a good fit for us strategically, as we work to develop strong AAA products for enterprises that improve the security of networks and the data that is transmitted into the open air," stated John Vollbrecht, CTO of Interlink Networks. "There's a definite need for authentication and message integrity as Wi-Fi scales to millions of enterprise users worldwide."
