Los Angeles, CA (December 19, 2001) - JAMDAT Mobile Inc., the leading US provider of wireless entertainment applications and technologies, today launched Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom, the sequel to Gladiator, the most popular multiplayer wireless game ever. To date, Gladiator has been played by nearly 1.1 million users who have generated over 15 million minutes of usage. Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom takes advantage of the advanced graphic capabilities of the latest wireless phones, and introduces new features to enhance playability.

Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom launches the week of December 17, 2001 on wireless networks operated by ALLTEL Wireless (NYSE:AT <http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=at&d=t>) www.alltel.com <http://www.alltel.com>, AT&T Wireless (NYSE:AWE <http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=awe&d=t>) www.attws.com <http://www.attws.com>, Qwest Wireless (NYSE:<http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=q&d=t>) www.qwestwireless.com <http://www.qwestwireless.com>, Sprint PCS (NYSE: PCS <http://PCS>) www.sprintpcs.com <http://www.sprintpcs.com>, TELUS Mobility (Toronto: <http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=t.to&d=t>) www.telusmobility.com <http://www.telusmobility.com> and Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ <http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=vz&d=t>) www.verizonwireless.com <http://www.verizonwireless.com>.

"The incredible success of the original Gladiator title, a fighting game based in ancient Rome, was proof positive that the wireless phone could be used as a platform for compelling entertainment," said Mitch Lasky, CEO, JAMDAT Mobile. "With legions of long-time Gladiator fanatics eager for a new challenge, and sales of the latest phones bringing more potential players onto the wireless Web every day, Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom is poised for even greater success."

As part of the Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom product launch, JAMDAT will give away two Microsoft Xbox(TM) game consoles in random drawings of registered Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom players. Full details and registration information are available on the Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom main menu or at www.jamdat.com <http://www.jamdat.com>.

Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom introduces new features for use by players in their fight for valor, survival and ultimate freedom. New to the cast of characters is the Nubian, who possesses the magical power to regain life points while in combat. This creates a challenge, as the opponent must successfully adopt a strategy to out-live the Nubian. The characters of existing Gladiator players will be automatically transferred to Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom with no loss of attained life value, skill points or level.

A new weapon, the Trident, has been added to the Gladiator arsenal to bring yet another risk/reward component to the game. The Trident is a three-pronged fork that can be thrown at an opponent to inflict devastating damage. However, there is a risk - when a player throws a Trident they will be unarmed for the next round.

Gladiators that reach high success levels will now gain their freedom as "Free Tribunes." A Free Tribune is no longer an enslaved Gladiator and continues to play by challenging and fighting any player. An automated handicapping feature balances the fights between Free Tribunes of advanced levels and their opponents.

Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom also features several user community elements. User-defined war cries or taunts are communicated to opponents at the beginning of a match, a successful offensive strike and upon overall victory. Also, a "top ten" list is available on the main menu to allow all players to track progress of the leading Gladiators.
