LightSurf KK, LightSurf Technologies' operations in Japan, today announced the availability of the LightSurf eSwitch. The LightSurf eSwitch is a robust server appliance that transcodes and delivers optimized images in real-time from any Web site to all Internet-ready mobile phones. In response to tremendous demand from Internet Service Providers (ISP), content portals, and wireless operators, the LightSurf eSwitch will be ready for commercial launch in Japan in Q1 of 2002.
LightSurf's eSwitch transcodes all existing Web images in real time, giving mobile Internet users access to rich content and images for instant photo-messaging anywhere, anytime, and on any device. The LightSurf eSwitch optimizes the original image by modifying resolution, color depth, and file size to deliver the best possible viewing experience for mobile Internet users. With the LightSurf eSwitch, content portals, Internet service providers and wireless operators can now effectively and efficiently reach a much larger viewing audience, while reducing operating costs.
