MobiApps, MDanywhere To Provide Mobile Solutions For the Healthcare Industry

December 7, 2001

MobiApps, a wireless applications and device solutions provider for the healthcare industry, and MDanywhere(TM), a leading provider of e-health, enterprise point-of-care solutions, announced today that they will jointly deliver integrated, end-to-end mobile healthcare solutions to physicians, clinicians and hospital administrators across the globe.

MobiApps' wireless mobile platform and its front-end application suite, m-Health, integrated with MDanywhere's state-of-the-art backend applications solutions, will allow physicians and medical facilities to deliver effective patient care where and when it is needed most -at the point of care.

By using any of a variety of handheld devices and wireless networks in conjunction with applications software offered by both companies, healthcare professionals will be able to interact in real time with patient medical data and monitoring systems anywhere, anytime to help improve quality and reduce medical error.

MDanywhere's point-of-care applications integrate with MobiApps' m-Health application suite as a web-services platform that allows modular application deployment and integration with a hospital's electronic medical records system. The system can be used over any Web-based browser or through a distributed database, and through bundling with MobiApps' m-Integrator Server platform, is able to wirelessly deliver vital patient data to virtually any handheld device, including Palm Pilot(TM), Compaq IPAQ(TM), RIM Blackberry(TM) or WAP-enabled phones. The application software performs such functions as ordering and tracking of lab results and prescription orders, and through its prescription management module, it provides access to prescription databases of over 175,000 drugs. The system also creates a virtual super-bill in the palm of the physician's hands, including diagnosis codes, procedure codes, fee schedules and local medical review guidelines. Additional specialty disease and transplantation management systems are also available as optional modules.

"In today's fast paced medical world, where physicians, nurses and clinicians are all pressed for time, finding more efficient ways to deliver acute healthcare is critical," said Stephen Snider, vice president of sales and marketing for MobiApps. "This alliance will bring together MDanywhere's extensive healthcare application domain expertise and wirelessly empower it via the powerful MobiApps m-Integrator server platform. The result is a unique point-of-care information solution, which provides physicians with wireless access to clinic and hospital-based information from anywhere. By allowing the physician to deliver efficient, cost-effective and timely patient care services, the benefits of the MobiApps/MDanywhere solution are certainly significant and will be recognized immediately."

"This is a tremendous opportunity to integrate best of breed competencies from the healthcare informatics and wireless communication worlds," said Dr. Rudy Rai, founder of MDanywhere and a physician with Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. "With a live implementation and ongoing R&D input from physicians at Johns Hopkins, we have the best application development environment. Partnering with MobiApps' technologies, which are the best in the mobile wireless and distributed database arena, we have created a unique offering that provides enterprise-level solutions that can be introduced across a range of wireless mobile devices. It's a powerful, dynamic and innovative solution that has incredible value for physicians, hospitals and health systems."
