Partnerships With Sharp, Palm, K Lab, Creo and Nomura Kogei to Extend Reach of Service

Pumatech, Inc. (Nasdaq:PUMA), a leading provider of enterprise-level software products and services that deliver highly relevant information wherever and whenever it's needed, today announced that its Japanese subsidiary, Pumatech Japan K.K., has introduced a new network business system called the Sync-it Service, powered by Pumatech's Sync-it server technology. The Sync-it Service will enable users to synchronize PIM (personal information management) data among compatible devices and applications such as Sharp Zaurus devices and Microsoft Outlook through the Sync-it server on the Internet. In addition, users will be able to extract schedule and contact data from Web-based information relating to events, restaurants, travel and ticketing utilizing a custom Sync-it button that plugs into their PIM software.

The service, available from http://www.pumatech.co.jp/sync-it/, makes it easy to share information among friends and co-workers, and integrates tightly with Microsoft Outlook 98/2000, the Sharp Zaurus MI-E21/MI-L1/MI-E1/MI-C1/MI-P10/MI-EX1 family of devices, and the Sharp Net PIM (Internet-based PIM).

Pumatech Japan K.K. announced several partnerships that will extend the reach of the service:

-- The Sync-it Service will be integrated with Sharp

Corporation's "Hot PIM" (http://pim.spacetown.ne.jp/), a Web-based service offered through Sharp Space Town. Sharp will also work with Pumatech to co-promote Sync-it and encourage adoption of the Sync-it Service button.

-- It will be used by K Lab (http://www.klab.org/) to develop a Java application for mobile phones.

-- Creo (http://www.creo.co.jp/) will incorporate the service's capabilities into its popular "Fude Mame" New Year's card software.

-- Palm Computing Japan (http://www.palm-japan.com/) will work closely with Pumatech K.K. to encourage adoption of the service by Palm OS handheld users.

-- Nomura Kogei will incorporate a Sync-it button into its Event Navi (http://www.eventnavi.ne.jp/) Web portal to enable easy mobile access to information on the site.

Over time, Pumatech K.K. expects to create Sync-it Service partnerships with membership organizations (ISPs, portals, carriers), hardware vendors (mobile phones, PDAs), software vendors (groupware, personal information management software) and various information providers (ticketing, news).
