QUALCOMM and World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. Form Tag Team to Create Dynamic Interactive Wireless Content

WWFE Ready to SmackDown!(TM) The Wireless Industry with BREW Applications

QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology and World Wrestling Federation Entertainment (WWFE), Inc., (NYSE: WWF) an integrated media and entertainment company, today announced they have signed an agreement to create interactive wireless services using QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM)) applications platform. WWFE is creating a suite of applications for its fans worldwide, who will be able to personalize their handsets over the air, virtually anytime, anywhere. Their complete offering of wireless content will include personalized ring tones, instant messaging, interactive trivia, up-to-the moment news, real-time polling and games aimed to give subscribers the most bleeding edge, explosive set of mobile applications available anywhere.

"WWFE has embraced the BREW platform as a means to deliver content to its fans worldwide," said Roger Marment, executive vice president of International Business Development, WWFE. "Our research shows that a majority of our fans own mobile phones and are very receptive to embrace new technology innovation. Utilizing this platform is a natural way for us to raise the level of interaction with our fan base and allow them to experience the World Wrestling Federation like never before."

"QUALCOMM is excited about having an entertainment giant like the WWFE join our team and select the BREW initiative as its wireless technology platform," said Peggy Johnson, president of QUALCOMM Internet Services. "Using the BREW platform makes it infinitely easier for content providers to create applications that work on handsets. This opens up a new marketplace for entertainment brands and creates a new venue for them to promote fun and entertainment."

QUALCOMM's BREW platform is a thin, standardized execution environment that resides in handsets. Native BREW applications are written in C/C++. While the BREW platform supports programming in other languages, such as Java and XML, C/C++ is used as the primary language by significantly more developers worldwide than any other language, according to International Data Corp. QUALCOMM's BREW initiative is the only approach that offers developers, OEMs and carriers a complete, end-to-end solution for wireless applications development, device configuration, application distribution, and billing and payment. The complete BREW solution includes the BREW Software Development Kit(TM) (SDK) for developers, the BREW applications platform and porting tools for device manufacturers, and the BREW Distribution System (BDS) that enables developers and their carrier customers to get applications to market and coordinates the billing and payment processes for them. Carriers' BREW-based services will enable consumers to customize their handsets by downloading applications over the air from a carrier's application download server.
