New class of products for enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) deployment - delivers scalable and comprehensive security, subnet mobility, session persistence, and management
ReefEdge Inc., the leader in products that build confidence in wireless LANs, today announced the general availability of the next generation of the ReefEdge Connect System.
The ReefEdge Connect System v2.0 meets the overwhelming market demand for a single comprehensive solution providing advanced security, seamless mobility, and easy management for wireless LANs. The announcement was made at a press briefing held today and will be presented by ReefEdge executives at multiple industry events this week including the Internet World Wireless West Conference in San Jose, California, the IEEE Wireless LAN and Home Networking Conference in Singapore, and the EyeforWireless Conference in Austin, Texas.
ReefEdge offers a new class of product for the wireless LAN (WLAN) market. The ReefEdge Connect System v2.0 is the industry's first solution to integrate required firewall/VPN functionality, subnet roaming, session persistence, quality of service (QoS), and management capabilities into a single scalable offering for secure WLAN deployments. The ReefEdge system is WLAN vendor neutral, supports multiple mobile devices such as laptops and PDAs, and multiple radio technologies such as 802.11b, 802.11a, and Bluetooth. ReefEdge products allow organizations to control, access and use the wireless network to their full advantage.

The ReefEdge Connect System v2.0 scales from small deployments with few users to the largest of enterprises with thousands of users. With best-of-breed, low-latency subnet roaming and session persistence, end-users receive seamless access to the network and continuous connectivity to real-time voice and data applications anywhere within the enterprise. Using Dynamic IPSec(TM) technology, the ReefEdge solution pushes encryption to the edge of the network delivering a virtually unlimited capacity to support security.
Starting at $6,000, the ReefEdge Connect System v2.0 consists of two products: the ReefEdge Connect Server, which allows centralized management of the system; and the ReefEdge Connect Bridges, which implement security, QoS and mobility at the edge of the network.
Key feature/functionality enhancements of ReefEdge Connect(TM) 2.0 include:
Enterprise Strength Security. The Connect System provides enhanced enterprise-strength authentication, encryption and fine-grained access controls to stop intruders from reading, modifying or injecting wireless traffic, or accessing protected resources.
The Connect System provides hassle-free single sign-on authentication for all network users protected by secure SSL technology and root-signed certificates. Integration with existing enterprise authentication servers (RADIUS, NT Domain Servers and Active Directory) enables the IT Manager to maintain a single repository of user credentials, thereby eliminating common database synchronization problems.
The Connect System provides unmatched network access control capabilities for managing individual user and group privileges. Version 2.0 includes support for unlimited access control groups, providing fine-grained control for implementing security policies and QoS by individuals and groups of users. For example, a system administrator can now isolate a specific conference room, providing Internet access privileges to guest users from that room, but blocking access to all other enterprise resources.
The Connect System protects traffic where it is most vulnerable -on the radio link. The Connect System provides privacy by encrypting connections between mobile devices and the Connect Bridges through patent-pending Dynamic IPSec(TM). Unique in the industry and providing maximum performance and scalability, ReefEdge distributes the IPSec processing to the Connect Bridges at the edge of the wireless network and dynamically "roams" the IPSec credentials along with users as they move about their environment.
Seamless Mobility and Session Persistence. The Connect System enables constant connectivity by allowing secure and seamless Layer 3 subnet roaming while maintaining network and application session persistence. Quality of Service. With customizable QoS policies, administrators can limit the bandwidth consumed by different users or groups of users, to help maximize network availability and efficiency.
