TDK Systems Debuts Go Blue Wireless Development Tools

Supports Palm's Bluetooth Software Developers Kit

December 12, 2001

TDK Systems, Inc. (NYSE:TDK) is marketing its Go Blue(TM) Wireless Development Toolkit to support Bluetooth software developers creating and testing new applications for the industry's leading handheld platform, the Palm OS(R).

TDK Systems' latest in a series of Go Blue product releases is positioned to benefit as Bluetooth becomes increasingly relied upon to activate systems and swap information using handheld devices.

"TDK Systems is supporting Palm's thriving developers community with the launch of its Bluetooth Software Development Toolkit," said Derrick Emeka, head of marketing at TDK Systems. "We believe our tools combined with Palm's software developers kit will have a direct impact on time to market by providing rapid evaluation and testing of applications - all using certified Bluetooth devices," he added.

Included in the toolkit are two TDK Systems USB Adapters, one USB 4way hub, a CD with all software including install, Router app, TDK Systems Palm drivers, Widcomm Bluetooth protocol stack, PID switch, Pocket Studio, Help and installation documentation and references to online help.

"To a large extent, Palm developers have had to `hope and pray' when assessing the likely success of Bluetooth wireless applications," said Darren Watkins, Bluetooth product marketing manager at TDK Systems. "With this kit, an application's performance can be evaluated in minutes, using certified Bluetooth hardware."

The kit uses TDK Systems' USB Adapters to provide the Bluetooth links that enable the evaluation of applications. The tools are used in conjunction with the Palm Operating System Emulator (POSE) used to create fully integrated Palm applications.

TDK Systems' software engineers have created a router that allows up to 127 USB adapters to be virtually connected to individual POSE sessions, via a single PC. This allows the development and debugging of true Bluetooth applications, stressed to full Piconet capacity.
