Zenographics Announces MobilePrint For Wireless Printing, Faxing and Viewing of Content Over The Wireless Web

December 19, 2001

Zenographics, developer of leading-edge digital output solutions, today announced its wireless mobile printing product, MobilePrint(TM).

Travelers today need to stay connected to the Internet and their corporate databases while away from the office or home. This means that a great number of travelers carry portable computers or wireless Web-enabled PDAs with them while they travel.

Seventy-five percent of these travelers use their portable devices to read e-mail and attachments. After reviewing their e-mails many travelers would like to print a specific e-mail or an attachment while they are on the road. Unfortunately, for notebook users this often involves the complicated task of loading custom printer drivers, connecting to corporate intranets or finding print shops that will accept documents on floppy disk, then waiting while the application is loaded and the document is opened and printed. PDA users have even fewer options to print from their devices.

With rapid advances in PDAs, Web-enabled phones, and PocketPC devices, e-mails can now be viewed on many mobile devices. The need to carry a portable computer to read and answer e-mails or view attachments will diminish as Web-enabled phones become more commonplace, but people will still need to print e-mails, attachments and Web pages from their mobile devices.

MobilePrint enables the printing of e-mails, e-mail attachments and Web content to printers on corporate networks, or at print shops and fulfillment points near the mobile user. MobilePrint works from any Web-enabled phone or cellular device -- without the need for special hardware or printer drivers. MobilePrint also lets users fax e-mail attachments or download and view them on their mobile phone.

"MobilePrint brings universal wireless printing to the wireless Web," stated Bob Romney, president of Zenographics. "MobilePrint's software-only approach means it can be rapidly disseminated, widely used and automatically updated and enhanced over time."
