Sendit demonstrates powerful GSM mobile e-mail solutions for Windows CE and Outlook at CeBIT 99

CeBIT, Hanover, Germany - March 17th, 1999 Sendit demonstrates in the Microsoft Windows CE pavilion, Hall2 Stand D02, the Mobile Extension™ e-mail plug-in for the Microsoft Windows CE operating system. The Mobile Extension plug-in offers a smart way of accessing e-mail for users on the move. By combining pushed smart e-mail header information over GSM SMS (short message service) with virtually instant, user-triggered retrieval of individual messages, Sendit has created a simple yet powerful communication tool for the mobile user.

The Mobile Extension™ e-mail plug-in integrates with the Microsoft Pocket Outlook Inbox and synchronises the mobile phone with the user’s Palm-size PC, Handheld PC or Handheld PC Professional Edition device over an infrared link. With rapid access from the Inbox to pushed SMS notifications, and selected full e-mail retrieval over GSM data, mobile subscribers can get the full benefit of the mobile operator’s e-mail service delivered through Sendit’s ICSA™ (Internet Cellular Smart Access) server.

At CeBIT 99, Sendit is showing how mobile users can use the Mobile Extension plug-in to:

easily retrieve e-mail notifications and SMS messages from the mobile phone and read them in the Windows CE Pocket Outlook Inbox; select from e-mail notifications those individual e-mail messages to be downloaded from the ICSA server using GSM data services; delete or ’smart forward’ messages from the ICSA server to any other e-mail address or fax number without downloading - particularly useful when forwarding large messages or attachments.

Also on display is a ’sneak preview’ of the Mobile Extension plug-in for Microsoft Outlook. This plug-in will offer the same powerful push-and-fetch concept to Microsoft Outlook users with notebook PCs. Furthermore, the Mobile Extension for Microsoft Outlook will switch automatically between GSM mode and LAN mode, ensuring convenient usage at all times.

Roger Gulrajani, group product manager for the information appliances division at Microsoft Corp. said, "Sendit’s Mobile Extension plug-in adds significant communications power to users of Windows CE-based devices. The expandability of the Windows CE platform makes it an ideal choice for a two-piece mobile communications solution over GSM networks."

Sanjay Jhawar, vice president of marketing and business development at Sendit says, "Intuitive, easy-to-use two-piece client solutions will enable volume take-up of advanced Mobile Internet services. We regard Windows CE as an important platform for the future of this market."
