USA.NET AND PHONE.COM LAUNCH JOINT WEB-BASED WIRELESS EMAIL SERVICE VIA PHONE.COM'S MYPHONE™ SERVICE

Phone.com Now Offers USA.NET's World-Class Email Through Its Newly Introduced, MyPhone™ Service, Enabling Carriers to Create Wireless Portals Under Their Own Brands

Phone.com (Nasdaq: PHCM), a leading provider of software that enables the delivery of Internet-based services to mass-market wireless phones, and USA.NET, the world's largest email outsourcer, today announced the inclusion of USA.NET's world-class email services as a key component of Phone.com's MyPhone™ service.

MyPhone, introduced today, is a complementary offering to Phone.com's market-leading WAP-compatible UP.Link Server Suite and provides telecommunications carriers and wireless network operators with their own turnkey branded portal. Through this service, network operators can provide their wireless subscribers with mobility-centric applications, including USA.NET's feature-rich, Web-based email service, and Internet information services including news feeds, stock and financial information databases, address book and calendar functionality. The launch of this service builds on the initial agreement in which Phone.com selected USA.NET as its exclusive Application Service Provider for Web-based email.

"Email is the killer application on the Internet and the critical component of any mobile service offering. We've entrusted this application to USA.NET because of their demonstrated leadership in email reliability, scalability and feature-rich messaging services," said Phone.com Vice President of Marketing, Ben Linder. "Together, Phone.com and USA.NET are offering a uniquely appealing, complete email solution for carriers everywhere, and in turn, wireless users worldwide."

This agreement specifically leverages one of USA.NET's world-class business email outsourcing solutions, USA.NET Web Messaging, specifically designed for portals. Through USA.NET Web Messaging, Phone.com can offer wireless network operators full-featured, Web-based email that they can offer to their wireless customers.

"Our partnership with Phone.com will enable wireless customers worldwide to have access to their mission-critical email, anytime, anywhere," said John Street, president and CEO of USA.NET. "The launch of this service demonstrates our ability to provide email outsourcing solutions that cross multiple devices and platforms. Through this exclusive partnership, USA.NET continues to expand its presence in one of the world's fastest growing communication markets."

Any wireless network operator who licenses MyPhone automatically receives USA.NET Web Messaging. USA.NET Web Messaging includes dynamic Web features, such as online sign-up and a customizable login page. Premium services that will be available include POP access, email forwarding, virus scanning and extra storage.

This new service leverages USA.NET's proprietary technology, patented this summer, in providing a centralized environment for message management and retrieval. It also leverages Phone.com's experience in email user interface design for the phone, as well as the company's proven microbrowser and UP.Link gateway technology. Phone.com's and USA.NET's technologies together enable end users of MyPhone to access their email from multiple Web-enabled devices-either a computer or cell phone.
