Motorola, WORLDSPAN to Provide Travel Services to Wireless Market

Motorola (NYSE: MOT) and WORLDSPAN, a leading online travel reservation system, today announced an agreement to furnish travel information via Motorola's Internet-access-enabled wireless devices. Through Motorola's Mobile Internet Exchange™ communications platform (also known as the MIX™ platform), and its enhanced voice capabilities*, carriers will be able to offer their customers access to WORLDSPAN's travel services through any phone. WORLDSPAN is the first travel channel provider to the core content of Motorola's MIX platform.

As one of the top travel transaction processors, WORLDSPAN currently offers real-time flight arrival and departure information through Motorola's MIX platform. In the first quarter of 2000, users are expected to be able to get airline flight availability, purchase airline tickets, and change air itineraries through the services provided by WORLDSPAN.

Instead of having to contact airlines, hotels and car rental companies individually, users can make all arrangements by accessing WORLDSPAN's integrated travel content. Airline, hotel, and car rental booking capabilities will be available through WORLDSPAN, providing travelers with prompt, efficient travel bookings through the MIX services.

"The Motorola and WORLDSPAN alliance empowers 'road warriors' to manage their own arrangements from anywhere. Booking, changing and confirming travel plans will be very easy," said Mitesh Patel, Motorola's Internet and Connectivity Solutions Division director of mobile applications platform. "WORLDSPAN provides information to other hot Internet travel companies, such as Expedia, Inc. and priceline.com, so our mobile users will have access to the same reservations engine that drives them."

Motorola's strategic focus is on bringing the benefits of the Internet revolution to everyone, regardless of location or access device. The power of WORLDSPAN's service is delivered through Motorola's MIX communications platform to a consumer's choice of device even when consumers travel away from their homes or offices. The Wireless Applications Protocol (WAP) makes it possible for information to be viewed on a phone's display. The VoxGateway and VoxML™ programming language, Motorola's precursor to the VoiceXML standard, enable enhanced voice services, such as voice dialing and the ability to listen to email, personal organizer data and Internet-based information.

"By merging wireless communications with the worldwide electronic marketplace of the Internet, Motorola is boldly leading mobile users into the 21st century," commented Sue Powers, vice president - Sales and Marketing for WORLDSPAN. "We at WORLDSPAN are pleased to participate in this exciting endeavor by supplying the most robust and reliable real-time online travel content and services."

WORLDSPAN processes more than $1.8 billion in annual Internet travel sales on behalf of its Internet based travel agencies, and is far and away the market leader in this fast-growing e-commerce category.

The MIX communications platform is offered by Motorola's Communications Enterprise. The MIX platform enables carriers to use the Internet to provide integrated voice and data capabilities that bring mobile consumers anywhere the information they desire over the device or user interface of their choice. A wireless Internet end-to-end solution, it is a feature server of Motorola's Aspira(TM) architecture. Comprised of servers, gateways, software applications and content, the MIX platform supports a host of software applications. Additional information is available at www.motorola.com/mix
