Nokia and CSC demonstrate corporate Intranet applications over GPRS

Nokia and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) will demonstrate how a medium-size company can benefit from connectivity over a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network, at Telecom´99 Geneva. The demonstration system will show how a company can offer easy access to all its information via a live Nokia GPRS Solution.

The demonstration system is jointly developed by Nokia and CSC and utilises a Nokia GPRS network and a CSC corporate solution. It will enable operators and business users to experience the look and feel of the next generation of wireless data services. Various applications such as database access to production, sales and customer information, messaging between sites and applications and remote metering of vineyard conditions will be demonstrated. The system will also demonstrate a WAP application to show the synergy of WAP and GPRS.

"We are proud to present this application, enabled by the unique combination of the vertical system integration expertise of CSC and our leading know how in wireless networking. This application demonstrates how GPRS enabled wireless connectivity can enhance the vast base of industry information systems.
