Palm Computing and Symbian announce today their intent to cooperate to expand the size of the global wireless market place

Palm Computing Inc., a 3Com company, and Symbian announced today that they intend to cooperate to enlarge the growing wireless telephony market. In order to achieve this goal, Palm and Symbian have agreed to discuss the licensing of each others technologies.

"We are delighted to extend the benefits of the Palm economy to the global cellular telephony market place. This future cooperation offers Palm the ability to provide comprehensive solutions to our licensees in the wireless area, and that is a win for the wireless industry overall", said Alan Kessler, President of Palm Computing.

"We are looking forward to cooperate with Palm to develop new opportunities for our licensees," said Colly Myers, CEO, Symbian. "Adding Palm Computing functionality to Symbian’s robust and scalable wireless platform, will result in new types of devices, providing both Symbian and Palm developers with a compelling new opportunity."
