Saraide Partners with BellSouth in WAP Trial to Deliver Internet Services to its Mobile Customers Regional trials to begin in October

Saraide, a world leader in the delivery of Internet-based services to wireless devices, today announced a partnership to provide mobile data services to BellSouth's Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) trial. BellSouth will be trialing a variety of wireless data services including Saraide's Travel Service.

Working under a service bureau model, Saraide works with carriers and Internet content providers to deliver data and information services to the mobile market. Saraide provides customized, time-sensitive, location-based information services such as e-mail, stock quotes, travel information, calendars, contact lists, personal banking, electronic commerce, and much more. Saraide currently delivers this rich suite of Internet-based wireless data services to carriers worldwide.

The BellSouth trial is consistent with Saraide's global strategy to extend its widely available services to WAP-enabled devices. The WAP trial will involve several hundred existing BellSouth Mobility DCS customers in the Raleigh, NC and Greenville, SC markets.

Saraide's Travel Service is a mobile travel assistant designed to provide business travelers with mobile real time access to essential travel information through the wireless device of their choice. The service will provide airline and flight information, schedules, and personalized notification of flight delays.

"We are pleased to be working with BellSouth as part of the WAP trial," said Arif Janjua, Saraide's vice president and general manager, North America. "Saraide's Travel Service offers a unique set of services, unmatched by any other offering on the market. BellSouth's clients will now have the opportunity to trial a powerful set of services designed to deliver the critical information they want, where and when they want it."

BellSouth will evaluate service applications, network equipment and mobile phones enabled with WAP, a technology standard that optimizes Internet and other data content for use in wireless environments. Trial participants will acquire information by first accessing wirelessly a BellSouth Buzz portal, selecting from a menu of options and then receiving real-time content on the screen of their wireless phone.

"Saraide's Travel Service will offer our clients the power of an online travel assistant delivered to their WAP enabled wireless device," said Carlton Hill, director of product development and management of BellSouth Cellular Corp. "Our WAP trial is a continuation of our commitment to offer our clients cutting edge services and technology. We are confident that these new services will be well received."
