The Alcatel GPRS end-to-end network platform comprises all the necessary infrastructure elements for the radio, switching and routing functions and the dedicated software.
France Telecom is showing a number of innovative mobile data and Internet services over this live multimedia network. These LIVE customer applications include localization through a multimedia tourist guide customized for Telecom 99, e-mail, image and sound transfer through Internet access.
" Driven by the exponential growth of IP markets, everything points to a great surge in demand for mobile data. And France Telecom will provide shortly a GPRS service to its Itineris customers. As from now, we are pleased to show Alcatel's full scale GPRS trial platform operating in live conditions. This dynamic demonstration makes Mobile Intelligence a reality today and demonstrates that France Telecom is well placed on this market " said Benoit Eymard, Director Development and Operations of France Telecom Mobiles.
