Wireless Portal Innovator to Use Diversinet Technology to Become Public CA for Smart Phones

Santa Clara, CA – November 3, 1999 – Diversinet Corp. (NASDAQ Small Cap: DVNT, CDN: DVNT), a leading provider of security solutions for wireless e-commerce, today announced at Wireless IT ’99 that Intelligent Information Incorporated ("III") is licensing the Diversinet Passport Certificate Server to enable III to become a Public Certificate Authority for Smart Phones and pagers. The arrangement will provide Diversinet with ongoing recurring revenue.

III’s services allow digital wireless customers to receive a wide range of news and information through a cell phone or pager. Subscribers go to a Web site to select their personal news and information preferences and decide how they want to receive their wireless updates. III has partnered with numerous PCS and cellular carriers, paging carriers and a variety of content providers, offering hundreds of thousands of users valuable applications and information via wireless. Some of the largest Cellular, PCS and Paging carriers on the continent are among the companies that distribute III’s services to their subscribers under the "Powered by iii" sub-brand. Both Diversinet and III will engage in joint marketing efforts to promote the new service.

Additionally, III has assumed a leadership position in wireless content distribution through its development of services using Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). WAP is the emerging standard for mobile phone-based wireless Internet services and is supported by over 200 carriers, developers and manufacturers worldwide. III delivered over 10 million personalized messages during the month of July 1999. On most days, III is now delivering more than half-a-million messages to wireless phones and pagers.

The inclusion of Diversinet’s security solutions in WAP applications, coupled with III’s function as a wireless Public Certificate Authority offers end-to-end security to users of WAP browsers on Smart Phones. This partnership with III offers Diversinet the opportunity to open up new channels with III partners. III’s partners include Nokia, Phone.com and other WAP development partners.
