e-plicity.com Joins the Phone.com Alliance Program to Promote Wireless e-commerce Applications

e-plicity.com announced today that it has joined the Phone.com Alliance Program to provide wireless service providers with wireless e-commerce applications for their business customers. Utilizing Internet development standards in conjunction with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) standards, e-plicity.com is developing a set of wireless e-commerce applications that allow businesses to authorize credit, debit, and smart card transactions via a wireless phone or a wireless Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). e-plicity.com solutions provide wireless service providers with a value-added service to offer business customers over their networks, and offer merchants a more efficient way to do business.

"We are pleased to become official members of the Alliance program, which will greatly enhance our profile within the wireless industry," said Malcolm Fraser, President of e-plicity.com. "The current rapid development of the wireless industry, and the coming explosion in wireless data, would simply not be possible without Phone.com’s leadership and vision in establishing open industry standards."

With applications now in rapid development, e-plicity.com plans to release BuyLink, a WAP compliant transaction engine, in the second quarter of 2000, to be followed shortly thereafter by ProductLink, a WAP compliant product catalogue based on e-commerce shopping cart technology. With the ability to create and complete customer orders in real-time from mobile locations, e-plicity.com wireless e-commerce solutions have clear applications for prepaid cellular, sales force automation, field service, and delivery.

"We are delighted that young companies such as e-plicity.com are creating innovative solutions for e-commerce on Internet-enabled wireless phones and extending how business is transacted," said Kathy Simpson, Director, Developer Marketing, Phone.com, "Applications such as BuyLink and ProductLink offer businesses and their customers a new and easy way to complete transactions anytime, anywhere using an Internet-enabled wireless phone."
