TAIWAN CELLULAR INTRODUCES TAIWAN'S FIRST WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICES USING PHONE.COM UP.LINK SERVER

WAP Services Set to Enter Taiwan Market

Phone.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: PHCM), and Taiwan Cellular Corp., (TCC) Taiwan's second largest GSM carrier, today announced that TCC has commercially licensed the Phone.com™ UP.Link™ Server Suite Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Gateway. TCC, formerly known as Pacific Cellular Corp., will become the first carrier to offer wireless Internet services throughout Taiwan, Asia's fastest growing wireless market . The UP.Link Server Suite offers wireless network operators such as TCC, a complete WAP-based solution to enable their subscribers to gain access to Internet-based content and applications. As a proven and scaleable WAP gateway, the UP.Link Server Suite supports any wireless phone equipped with a WAP 1.1 -compliant micro browser, such as the Phone.com UP.Browser™.

The UP.Link Server Suite provides for the delivery of WML content to any WAP handset, and backward compatibility with existing HDML content for these handsets, giving network operators the ability to support the broadest selection of wireless Internet applications available. The UP.Link Server Suite also enables interactive information services and applications, including Email, Visual Voicemail™, Personal Organizer and Electronic Customer Care. Since 1997, Phone.com's solutions have been licensed to over 44 of the network operators worldwide.
