The security in WAP tends to get most people confused. Actually, there is no way to make WAP secure if a WAP gateway is used. E.g. even if you use SSL from the gateway, there is no way for the WAP application to make sure that WTLS is used over the air.
Instead you must use a WAP server that communicates directly with the WAP phone. This way you can have WTLS security end-to-end from the phone to the content server. There are some good white papers on WAP security available at www.columbitech.com.
