We have just released a free ActiveX/ATL component to convert .gif/.jpg to .bmps. It comes with an example how to use from Visual C++ 6. Download from our web site.
The converter is used in our 'Mobile Publisher' product that authors a WML or HTML web site from existing web sites - and keeps the new web site up to date. Demo available.
