WAP experience exchange group under Danish Data Association

: : This is really for those Danes lurking out there: : The WAP Experience Exchange Group under the Danish Data Association had its founding meeting last Thursday, and it was a tremendous success. Unfortunately we had to close the admission list due to the size of the room, in which we had the meeting, but the ones "who got in" are really motivated re: WAP. : These are some of the things we got out of it: : A WAP Test center : Participating companies are lending out WAP phones (so far a Nokia 7110 and an Ericsson R320), which are kept at the secretariat of the Data Association, where we are setting up the test center. Danish phone operators are sponsoring the SIM cards. This allows Danish developers to test their applications on several different models, without having to buy every new model that comes along. : New home site, newsgroups etc. : A phone operator is sponsoring a web/WAP server, including domain name (www.waperfa.dk), hardware and Internet access. We can basically use it as we wish - newsgroups, emailing lists, regular home pages, (test) WAP site etc., as well as the contents from the home page we already operate (www.wap.ohlsen.dk). : Meetings : Several meetings will be held in the near future, by participating companies, as well as theme meetings on broader subjects. Those first covered will be: integrating WAP into the already running systems, security, phase 2, The place of WAP in the general marketing area, the business potential og WAP and WML/WMLscript programming. : Local groups : It's just been established that a "local group" of the Experience Exchange group will be initiated by two group members in Jutland, the Western part of Denmark. : There will probably also be set up a group on the island of Funen. : If you're Danish, or live in Denmark, and work with WAP, there's always room for you, too. Email: ht.ohlsen@ddf.dk and join up. : This includes Danish companies, as well as Danish branches of international companies. We have already facilitated cooperation between the phone operators in Denmark offering WAP services/gateways, and basically work to expand cooperation among colleagues in the WAP area. : : Regards, : Hans-Henrik T.
